This week we are going to polish up the first half of the show. This is the schedule for this week.
Tuesday: From 4;00-4:45 we are going to be working on two new songs that are in the first half of the show. We are going to be working on Night Into Day. This song involves the jungle; trees, bushes, plants, rocks, Shanti, and flowers. I also would like the K-2 grade choir to come to rehearsal to put them together with the cast. The choir will need to stay for the whole time (4:00-5:30). We are also going to be working on Monkey Business. For this number we will be also be needing the same members of the Jungle. I will need to have Kaa and The Elephants to come to rehearsal from 4:45-5:30. I don't need the monkeys to come to rehearsal on Tuesday, but they will need to come on Wednesday.
Wednesday: Mrs. Patin will be working with Baloo, King Louie, and Monkeys 1, 2, and 3 and other monkeys on The Reprise of I Wan'na be like you. Mrs. King will be working with Shere Khan, Baloo, Bagheera and Mowgli on the Shere Khan song. I would like the choir to come to this rehearsal as well, so we can polish up these songs. The choir only needs to stay from 4:00-5:00 on Wednesday. Members of the Jungle do not need to come to this rehearsal, however, I do need Shanti and her flowers to come and work on their flowers with Miss. Ovard during the rehearsal time.

ReplyDeleteIt would be so much easier for parents if all kids came to all rehearsals, this has been a killer trying to organize rides for all of the kids when they are coming and going at different times every single rehearsal. We have enough parent volunteers that all kids could come to all rehearsals and some parent volunteers could have whoever is not working on specific things be going over songs with the soundtrack, or showing each other the parts of the dances they know, etc. It would help solidify what they have learned, and it would simplify things tremendously for the carpooling and rides. (I would be willing to come to many of the rehearsals to help out. I know that there are other parents who could help out, as well.)
ReplyDeleteIf your child needs to come at a different time and needs to carpool with another cast member, it is fine if they come early. I just ask that they have something to do, a book to read, or homework to finish while they wait. I also realize that there are many volunteers who are willing to come and help practice. I will start using some of these volunteers for the Choir kids, but unfortunately as we are still learning different parts of the show, it is almost impossible to break them up into groups to practice what they have already learned, when they need to learn new things. As the show gets closer, we are going to have all cast members come to all rehearsals so we can run through the entire show during rehearsal times. Thank you for bring this to my attention. Like I have said many times, this year is a learning year, and there may be many things that change from year to year.
DeleteLet me know however I can help out!
